Avianca Opens Sales for New Bogotá-Havana Route, Set to Launch in December

Avianca has released tickets for the new direct route between Bogotá and Havana, set to begin operations on December 16, 2024, after a series of reschedulings from the initial start date due to operational adjustments. Flights will be operated by the A320 family aircraft, with a capacity of 180 passengers, offering a weekly total of over 2,500 seats on this route.

David Alemán, Avianca’s Sales Director for Colombia and South America, emphasized the significance of this new route, stating, “Landing in Havana at the end of this year with a new direct route will allow millions of passengers to connect from different parts of the world to Havana’s culture through Bogotá.”

The Bogotá-Havana route will operate daily, from Monday to Sunday, departing Bogotá’s El Dorado Airport at 12:35 p.m. and arriving in Havana at 4:00 p.m. In the return direction, flights will leave the Cuban capital at 5:10 p.m. and land in Bogotá at 8:25 p.m.

Avianca also reminded that, due to U.S. government regulations, tourist travel to Cuba is restricted for U.S. citizens and anyone in transit from the U.S.. These individuals may only travel if they fall within one of the 12 permitted categories or possess a specific government-issued license.

Tickets are now available on avianca.com, the airline’s mobile app, at physical sales points, and through travel agencies.

Avianca, which suspended this route in 2020, will now compete with Wingo, which operates four weekly flights between Bogotá and Havana.
