Felipe Bonifatti leaves South America and Caribbean region and is appointed Lufthansa Group’s Vice President of Asia Pacific and Joint Ventures East

Effective November 1, 2024, Felipe Bonifatti, current Senior Director for South America and the Caribbean, will take on the role of Vice President of Asia Pacific and Joint Ventures East at the Lufthansa Group, marking a new chapter in his career spanning more than three decades in the aviation industry. From his new base at Lufthansa’s regional headquarters in Singapore, Bonifatti will oversee all commercial operations, including Joint Ventures sales, across the Asia-Pacific region.

Felipe Bonifatti, born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, holds dual citizenship of Argentina and Spain. He graduated from the German school in his hometown and has a solid academic background, including a law degree from the National University and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Belgrano in Argentina.

His career at the Lufthansa Group began in 1992, and since then, he has held several key roles across Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean. Among his most notable positions was as General Manager for Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, during which he was awarded the prestigious Order of Alexander von Humboldt by the Colombian Parliament. He was also the youngest General Manager for the company in Latin America, leading the group’s operations in Central America, where he played a crucial role in launching Lufthansa’s first operations in the region.

In addition to his experience in Latin America, Bonifatti was responsible for the expansion of the German group in the Caribbean, overseeing pioneering services for group airlines such as Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, and Edelweiss. His most recent position prior to this new appointment was as Senior Director for South America and the Caribbean, based in São Paulo, Brazil.

With this appointment, Felipe Bonifatti brings his extensive experience in emerging markets and his deep understanding of Lufthansa’s operations in Latin America to the Asia-Pacific region, where the group has high expectations for growth.
