Air Canada is adding more capacity on its routes to Mainland China for the 2024/2025 winter season. Starting in January 2025, after almost five years, it will resume the Vancouver-Beijing Capital route. The Canadian airline is the second North American airline to resume its flights to the Chinese capital, after United Airlines. Currently, Air Canada is the only airline that will operate this route, therefore without competition.
By the beginning of December 2024, Air Canada will increase the Vancouver-Shanghai Pudong route from four times a week to daily flights, operating the same number of days as it did before the outbreak of the pandemic. Currently, the Canadian airline is the only one offering flights on this route.
«We are resuming our non-stop services between Canada and Beijing and increasing our flights between Canada and Shanghai, reflecting the importance of these markets in Air Canada’s global network. With the investments we have made in our hub at YVR connecting Air Canada’s extensive North American network to our international flights, travelling between North America and Asia is convenient and attractive for both leisure and business travellers. We look forward to welcoming our customers on board our flights,» said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue Planning and Networks, Air Canada.
