After a 12-year absence, Alaska Airlines returns as the only airline with international flights at Manuel Márquez de León International Airport, serving La Paz (LAP), the capital of Baja California Sur in Mexico. The airline will operate year-round flights from Los Angeles (LAX).
The flights will be operated by its subsidiary, Horizon Air, using Embraer 175 aircraft, initially with two weekly frequencies that will increase to three starting in January. By 2025, they plan to offer over 11,000 seats, according to Cirium.
“We are very pleased to see the relaunch of this flight, which we lost over 10 years ago,” remarked officials from Baja California Sur, noting that Aeromexico operated this route between 2013 and 2015, while Alaska Airlines previously served it until 2013.
Alaska Airlines flight schedule to La Paz
- Los Angeles – La Paz flight AS 3437 LAX 10:40 – 14:01 LAP / Monday, Friday, and Saturday.
- La Paz – Los Angeles flight AS 3437 LAP 14:51 – 16:36 LAX / Monday, Friday, and Saturday.
Officials highlighted that the new route will allow European and Asian tourists to access Baja California Sur’s tourist market via a connection in Los Angeles. Alaska Airlines, a member of the OneWorld alliance, sells flights to Madrid, London, and Dublin, among other destinations, operated by member airlines.
La Paz currently receives only domestic flights from Aeromexico (Mexico City), TAR Aerolíneas (Hermosillo and Mazatlán), Viva Aerobus (Culiacán and Guadalajara), and Volaris (Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City (AICM), Mexico City (AIFA), and Tijuana).
