Eastern Airlines Technic and Thales Renew MRO Cooperation Agreement

Eastern Airlines Technic (EASTEC) and Thales have renewed their Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Cooperation Agreement, reinforcing their partnership to support avionics equipment for China Eastern Airlines. This new agreement, extending the collaboration through 2029, builds upon a partnership established in 2018 and marks a significant milestone in nearly a decade of cooperation between the two companies.

Under this extended alliance, Thales will continue to provide maintenance and repair services for avionics equipment on China Eastern’s A320, A330, and B737 fleets, further enhancing EASTEC’s technical capabilities. The renewal ceremony took place on November 12, 2024, at the 15th Airshow in Zhuhai, where both companies emphasized their mutual trust and Thales’ commitment to premium service quality for China’s expanding aviation market.

Support will be delivered through Thales Aerospace Beijing Co., Ltd., Thales’ local maintenance center in China, and Thales Aviation Global Services (AGS) center in Singapore, ensuring comprehensive service for China Eastern’s fleet. Since China Eastern’s initial selection of Thales avionics in 2014, the airline has equipped 270 A320 aircraft with Thales’ Flight Management Systems (FMS), Low Range Radio Altimeters (LRRA), and T3CAS integrated surveillance solutions.

“We are proud to strengthen our collaboration with EASTEC, reinforcing our position as a trusted partner in the region,” said Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales Avionics. “At Thales, we leverage our global expertise to deliver high-quality premium solutions to EASTEC and our local customers and partners.”
