easyJet will have, starting in the spring of 2025, five slots at Milan-Linate Airport and three at Rome-Fiumicino, generating approximately 300 jobs at the two bases.

The decision means that easyJet will be able to provide a wide range of destinations and affordable prices for those traveling to and from Italy’s two most important cities.

The low-cost airline will operate a total of 38 aircraft in Italy, distributed across its four bases in Milan-Malpensa, Milan-Linate, Rome-Fiumicino, and Naples, offering service to 20 Italian airports and carrying more than 20 million passengers each year.

Milan, central operations base

Milan Malpensa will remain the hub of easyJet‘s European and Italian network, as it is also its largest base in continental Europe, where it recently celebrated the milestone of 100 million passengers transported since it began operations in 1998.

We are delighted to have been approved as the short-haul flight operator in Milan and Rome. This will ensure that the Italian market remains competitive, as easyJet can now offer a greater variety of destinations and low fares for Italian consumers, and those flying to and from Linate and Rome will benefit from new services starting in the spring,» said Kenton Jarvis, Chief Financial Officer and newly appointed CEO of easyJet.

«This step also confirms the key role of the airline in the Italian market, providing the opportunity to continue investing, create more jobs, and grow,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Lagorio, easyJet’s Country Manager in Italy, stated, «after transporting more than 210 million passengers to and from Italy over the past 26 years, we have proudly supported the democratization of local air travel in the country, enabling more and more Italians to travel comfortably and seamlessly across Europe.»

«We are excited about the opportunity to increase our presence in both Milan and Rome, creating jobs and continuing to offer more options to our customers,” he said.
