A U.S.-sanctioned Boeing 747 for transporting weapons and terrorists landed in Venezuela
On Saturday, March 29, a Boeing 747 freighter operated by Fars Qeshm Air, an airline affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and sanctioned by the United States, landed in Caracas, Venezuela, following a stopover in Mauritania. The aircraft, registered as EP-FAB, is one of two jumbo jets authorized for use by the company.
U.S. sanctions against Fars Qeshm Air and its aircraft are based on its direct ties to the IRGC, which has been accused of supporting terrorist and destabilizing activities across the Middle East, according to reporting by our media partner Aeroin.

The IRGC is connected to various militias and armed groups active in conflict zones and plays a central role in Iran’s power structure, significantly influencing the country’s foreign policy.
The U.S. has also imposed broader sanctions on aircraft operated by companies linked to the IRGC, citing their involvement in transporting weapons and supporting regimes and actors considered hostile to American interests and regional stability.
Iran’s choice of destinations such as Caracas highlights its search for allies and its continued operations in markets that often ignore or challenge Western sanctions.
These sanctions aim not only to restrict Fars Qeshm Air’s operational capabilities but also to demonstrate Washington’s resolve to counter Iranian influence in Latin America and beyond.
