Greek airline AEGEAN has announced an expansion of its agreement with Airbus, placing an additional order for eight A321neo aircraft. With this latest deal, AEGEAN's total direct order with the European manufacturer now stands at 60 aircraft from the A320neo family, of which 37 have already been delivered.
Strategic Growth and Fleet Expansion
According to AEGEAN, these new aircraft will support its route expansion plans and contribute to the airline’s long-term growth strategy. Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of AEGEAN, emphasized:
“This fleet expansion is essential for achieving our growth objectives and further strengthening the competitiveness of our operations.”
He also highlighted AEGEAN’s preference for the A321neo, noting that this higher-capacity, long-range variant will soon represent two-thirds of the airline’s Airbus fleet.
Airbus Welcomes AEGEAN’s Commitment
Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Airbus Commercial Aircraft Sales, praised AEGEAN’s decision:
“This order highlights AEGEAN’s commitment to operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience.”
He added that Airbus remains committed to supporting the airline’s expansion plans across Europe and beyond.
