Aerolíneas Argentinas responds to claims of irregularities and highlights transparency efforts
Aerolíneas Argentinas refuted accusations made by its pilots about alleged irregularities in the management of Fabian Lombardo. The company linked the complaints to union leader Pablo Biró, asserting they stem from past grievances regarding his actions against the interests of the airline
Aerolíneas Argentinas has responded to allegations made by its pilots regarding alleged “irregularities” in the management led by Fabian Lombardo, clarifying that these claims are linked to previous complaints against union leader Pablo Biró for “behavior contrary to the interests of the company.”
Sources from the state-owned company stated that the actions of the Asociación de Pilotos de Líneas Aéreas (APLA), in sending a formal letter of complaint signed by Biró, “are a direct reaction by Mr. Biró to the allegations against him for his actions that contradict the company’s interests.”
The sources added: “Biró use the platform and resources of the union to shield himself from scrutiny over his personal misconduct. The supposed complaint lacks concrete evidence and raises no issues that have not already been addressed transparently within the company’s board.”
Regarding the agreement with the LATAM group, they clarified: “The nature of this agreement is similar to others previously signed with different airlines. Once certain points about its implementation are finalized, it is expected to surpass others in terms of the benefits it will provide to Aerolíneas Argentinas’ customers.”
They further noted: “This topic is particularly sensitive to Biró, given his strong opposition to any presence of the LATAM group in Argentina—a stance he has demonstrated on numerous occasions.”
Concerning the cargo agreement with the Mirgor group, the company clarified that the contract was signed with Biró’s approval during a January 2023 board meeting and has not been modified since. “This contract is, in fact, one of the most profitable for the company,” they emphasized.
Finally, they stressed that “the financial statements for 2023 have already been approved by the board of directors and are now awaiting approval by the shareholders' assembly, which has been convened for this purpose.”
