Air Canada’s Return to Beijing: Strengthening Asia-Pacific Connectivity
Air Canada is back on the Vancouver-Beijing route after nearly five years, offering non-stop flights six times a week. The resumption strengthens the airline's Asia-Pacific connectivity and is expected to generate $33.1 million in GDP for British Columbia.
After nearly five years, Air Canada has resumed its non-stop flights between Vancouver and Beijing-Capital, becoming the second North American airline to reconnect with the Chinese capital. This route is also operated by Air China, its Star Alliance partner, four times a week. The resumed service complements the airline’s daily flights between Vancouver and Shanghai-Pudong.
Flight AC 29, operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner registered C-FVLX, departed from Vancouver International Airport at 12:10 local time, landing at Beijing-Capital International Airport at 16:27 the following day after a flight lasting 12 hours and 17 minutes.
This annual service is expected to generate $33.1 million in GDP for British Columbia, creating more than 350 jobs through increased tourism, business travel, and trade. Currently, Air Canada connects to over 60 destinations from Vancouver, and the resumption of the Beijing route enhances its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
