More Mexican and foreign carriers interested in operating cargo flights at AIFA
According to a report by Milenio, Isidoro Pastor, the airport’s General Director, assured that both MAS and Lufthansa Cargo are working to transfer their activities to the new airport. According to the official, the Mexican company has already begun the necessary contractual relationship to make the move effective.
On the other hand, representatives of the German airline’s cargo division recently toured the facilities and assured that they also intended to move their operations. Lufthansa Cargo operates a weekly direct flight between Frankfurt am Main (FRA) and Mexico City (MEX). It also operates a weekly service via Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). Both are operated with Boeing 777F aircraft.
Earlier this month, Air France-KLM and Martinair Cargo announced that they will move their operations as of next July. Currently, Air France Cargo operates two weekly flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Mexico City (MEX) with Boeing 777F aircraft.
Cargo airlines already present at the airport
The new airport serving Mexico City is now regularly served by China Southern Cargo, which operates three flights a week from Shanghai (PVG) via Los Angeles (LAX) with Boeing 777F aircraft, and DHL, which flies from Cincinnati (CVG).
The German international logistics company became the first company to perform a cargo flight to the new terminal on 27 February.
Meanwhile, Viva Aerobus’ transports cargo in the holds of its Airbus A320s and A321s that operate domestic passenger flights from AIFA.
