American Airlines Boosts Dallas/Mexico Connectivity with Expanded Winter Schedule
American Airlines is broadening its reach with expanded services on nine routes between Dallas/Fort Worth and Mexico for the 2023/2024 winter season. This move will result in the US-based airline offering up to 50 daily flights across 24 destinations, connecting Texas’s primary airport to Mexico.
Aviacionline’s data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) reveal that American Airlines facilitated travel for 7,385,067 passengers and transported 4,002.2 tons of cargo between Mexico and the United States in 2022. This positions the airline as a dominant player in this market.
Highlights of the winter schedule compared to the summer season include:
Monterrey
Three daily flights to Monterrey will be offered on 150-seat Airbus A320s, resulting in a nearly 25% increase in seating capacity. American Eagle will continue to operate the remaining two daily flights on Embraer 175 aircraft.
San Jose del Cabo
As a leading vacation destination on Mexico’s Pacific coast, San Jose del Cabo will enjoy an increase in service from four to five daily flights on Airbus A321 aircraft, a 25% increase in seat availability.
Puerto Vallarta
Increased flights and larger aircrafts will boost the Puerto Vallarta schedule. In total, the airline will offer four daily Airbus A321 flights and 10,640 weekly seats.
Cancun
As American Airlines’ principal Mexican destination in frequency and capacity, Cancun will see service increase from 49 to 57 weekly flights. A wide-body aircraft (Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner) will operate one of these services.
Cozumel
Service to Cozumel will grow to twice-daily flights on Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft, from a previous 8 flights per week schedule, offering 4,816 weekly seats.
Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo
The Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo route will expand from a weekly to a daily service, operated by American Eagle in Embraer 175 aircraft.
Merida
Merida service will increase by 40%, from five to seven weekly flights on Airbus A319 aircraft.
Huatulco
Huatulco service will jump from one weekly flight to five, operated by American Eagle on Embraer 175 aircraft.
Acapulco
Service to Acapulco will triple from one weekly flight to three, with nonstop connections operated by American Eagle on Embraer 175 aircraft.
American Airlines’ Dallas/Fort Worth network of Mexican destinations includes Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Leon/Guanajuato, Cancun, Cozumel, Chihuahua, Durango, Guadalajara, Huatulco, Loreto, Mexico City, Merida, Morelia, Monterrey, Mazatlan, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Queretaro, San Jose del Cabo, San Luis Potosi, Torreon, Zacatecas, Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo, and Manzanillo.
