Amerijet distributed COVID-19 vaccines in Nicaragua, Guyana and Jamaica

The North American cargo airline Amerijet carried out a series of flights for the distribution of vaccines against COVID-19 to Central America and the Caribbean, with the coordination of Odyssey Logistics company, which core operation is transporting sensitive cargo.

This flight schedule was possible thanks to a solidarity contribution of the Covishield vaccine from the AstraZeneca laboratory by the government of India, since the Serum Institute is located in the Asian country and is in charge of manufacturing large quantities of doses.

Jamaica, Guyana and Nicaragua were the destination countries of the doses. All flights departed from Miami International Airport, where Amerijet has its hub, with facilities occupying an area of ​​around 33,500 square meters and 3,700 of them belong exclusively to low-temperature cargo storage, essential to avoid losing the cold chain of the vaccines.

Amerijet CEO, Tim Strauss, said: «Delivering 350,000 doses to destinations in our region is something our entire company is proud of and all of us at Amerijet are honored to be part of the global initiative to control the virus».

Amerijet recently added to its fleet an Airbus A321 converted to a freighter under the P2F mode. The aircraft may be added to the operation in case that the demand for vaccines by the countries mentioned above continues or other destinations that the American company can cover are added.
