ANA Holdings (ANAHD) has approved the purchase of 77 new aircraft, including 68 firm orders and 9 options, as part of its strategy to renew its fleet and expand both international and domestic operations.
According to the company, these acquisitions are driven by growing passenger demand and the need for more efficient and technologically advanced aircraft.
International Expansion with Boeing 787-9
To strengthen its presence on international routes, ANAHD has confirmed the purchase of 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, powered by GE engines. This move aims to capitalize on increasing demand between Asia and North America, as well as the expansion of Narita International Airport.
The company projects that, compared to fiscal year 2023, its available seat kilometers (ASK) for international flights will increase 1.5 times by 2030.
First Introduction of Embraer E190-E2 in Japan
For the first time in Japan, ANA Holdings will introduce 20 Embraer E190-E2 jets, with 15 firm orders and 5 options.
These 100-seat aircraft are intended for domestic routes, enhancing operational efficiency and cost reduction through next-generation engines that offer lower fuel consumption and reduced noise levels. The company plans to introduce this model in fiscal year 2028.
Fleet Renewal and Growth at Peach Aviation
For short- and medium-haul operations, ANA Holdings has confirmed orders for 14 Airbus A321neo and 12 Boeing 737-8 aircraft (8 firm orders and 4 options), as part of its ongoing fleet modernization.
Additionally, Peach Aviation, the group’s low-cost carrier, will acquire 10 Airbus A321neo and 3 Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The A321XLR offers greater fuel efficiency and extended range, supporting Peach’s expansion within the ANA Group.
Fleet Projection and Sustainability Commitment
With these acquisitions, ANA Holdings expects its total fleet to reach 320 aircraft by fiscal year 2030, including approximately 120 Boeing 787 family aircraft.
The company estimates that 91% of its fleet will consist of fuel-efficient aircraft, aligning with its sustainability and operational efficiency goals.
Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings, emphasized:
“This order will be key to improving profitability on domestic flights and expanding our international operations, which is a crucial growth area for our business. We will seize this opportunity to solidify our position as an industry-leading airline with sustainable growth.”
