A Boeing 737 MAX operated by Dominican airline Arajet landed on Monday, February 17, at São José dos Campos International Airport, located in the interior of São Paulo state. The arrival of the aircraft, registered as HI1026, drew attention due to its unusual presence at the Brazilian terminal.
The aircraft touched down at 10:29 AM following a direct six-hour and 46-minute flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It then taxied to the airport’s apron to be delivered to Digex, a Brazilian company specializing in aircraft maintenance, particularly for the Boeing 737 family.
Aircraft Undergoing Scheduled Maintenance
When consulted by Aeroin, our partner media outlet in Brazil, the company confirmed that the aircraft had entered maintenance:
"As part of our aircraft maintenance and prevention program, the Check C is a scheduled major maintenance procedure carried out in a hangar. It requires the intervention of a team of specialists from a certified maintenance organization qualified for this level of inspection. It is performed every 36 months.
"During the process, the aircraft undergoes a comprehensive inspection. This type of maintenance is essential to ensure the aircraft’s safety and operability and may take several days before it returns to service in optimal condition. Currently, aircraft HI1026 is undergoing this inspection, and later this year, other Arajet aircraft will also undergo Check C."
A Key Aircraft in Arajet’s Fleet
The Boeing 737-8, registered as HI1026, was the sixth aircraft delivered to the Dominican airline in November 2023. One of its milestones was inaugurating the Buenos Aires route just 10 days after delivery.
