Avianca adds new frequencies to Guayaquil, Manaus, and more in 2024
Avianca continues to strengthen its presence in South America with increased frequencies to Asunción, Guayaquil, Manaus, and Montevideo, all from Bogotá. The airline plans to operate 263 weekly flights to 16 destinations in the region, leveraging its Airbus A320neo fleet for expanded connectivity.
In a new update to its reservation system, Avianca has announced an increase in flights to four South American destinations: Asunción (ASU), Guayaquil (GYE), Manaus (MAO), and Montevideo (MVD), all departing from Bogotá (BOG).
In addition to introducing new destinations, the Colombian airline will also strengthen its existing routes, subject to the arrival of new aircraft to its fleet.
According to the Cirium platform, Avianca has an outstanding order for 86 Airbus A320neo aircraft, with deliveries expected through 2032. Over the past three years, the airline has incorporated 35 aircraft from the previous generation, maintaining its growth trajectory despite global supply chain delays that have affected the delivery of new planes.
Avianca's new frequencies in South America
- Bogotá - Asunción, increasing from 3 to 5 weekly flights starting in May.
- Bogotá - Guayaquil, increasing from 34 to 39 weekly flights starting in March.
- Bogotá - Manaus, increasing from 4 to 7 weekly flights starting in April.
- Bogotá - Montevideo, increasing from 4 to 7 weekly flights starting in May.
All routes are operated with Airbus A320neo aircraft, configured with a capacity of 180 to 186 seats.
Following the pandemic, Avianca has strengthened its operations in South America, launching two new destinations in Brazil (with Manaus remaining), entering Guyana, and expanding its secondary hub in Medellín/Rionegro (MDE).
As of May, the airline will operate 263 weekly frequencies across 24 routes to 16 South American destinations.
