Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority has announced that Avianca has submitted a request to amend its operating permit for regular international air transport of passengers, mail, and cargo. The airline seeks to add the following routes to its international network:
Bogotá (BOG) – Monterrey (MTY) – Bogotá (BOG)
Bogotá (BOG) – Guadalajara (GDL) – Bogotá (BOG)
Bogotá (BOG) – Montego Bay (MBJ) – Bogotá (BOG)
The proposed operations would feature seven weekly flights for each route, utilizing Airbus A319, A320, and A320neo aircraft.

The request includes the application of the third and fourth freedoms of the air, in line with current international aviation regulations.

It is worth noting that Latam Airlines is currently the only South American carrier with active service to Montego Bay (MBJ), via an international route from Lima (LIM). This makes Avianca’s proposal a potential new direct air link between Colombia and Jamaica.
