Avianca Requests Authorization for Bogotá–Dallas Route, Its Tenth Connection Between Colombia and the U.S
Avianca has requested authorization to operate flights between Bogotá and Dallas, with up to one daily frequency. The airline already serves the Texas city from El Salvador.
The Civil Aeronautics Authority of Colombia (Aerocivil) has revealed that Avianca has requested authorization to operate a new route between Bogotá (BOG) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Texas.
According to the submitted document, the airline plans to operate up to seven flights per week, equivalent to one daily flight, using Airbus A319, A320ceo, and A320neo aircraft. If approved, this new connection would strengthen connectivity between South America and Texas.
Dallas/Fort Worth would become Avianca’s tenth destination between Colombia and the United States. However, the new route would directly compete with American Airlines, which currently operates a daily flight on the same route using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Avianca already has a presence in Dallas through its hub in San Salvador (SAL), El Salvador, from where it operates up to 10 weekly flights using Airbus A320ceo aircraft.
