Avianca to add nine more Airbus A320neo aircraft starting in 2027
Avianca will add nine new Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet starting in 2027, under a long-term lease agreement signed with BOC Aviation, an aircraft leasing company based in Singapore. The aircraft will be powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines.
According to BOC Aviation, the aircraft were acquired directly from Airbus and are already committed under lease to the Latin American airline.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027, as part of a broader expansion strategy aimed at strengthening presence in high-growth markets like Latin America, BOC Aviation noted.
Steven Townend, CEO and Managing Director of BOC Aviation, stated, “We are pleased to be working again with Avianca as it expands its network in rapidly growing Latin American markets.” He added that these deliveries reinforce the company’s positioning for sustained future growth.
Avianca, part of the ABRA Group, also emphasized the strategic value of the agreement. Francisco Raddatz, Chief Procurement Officer at ABRA Group, said, “This transaction supports our fleet renewal strategy and our commitment to operating modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.”
BOC Aviation operates a global fleet of more than 800 aircraft and engines, leased to 93 airlines across 48 countries, as of March 31, 2025. Avianca, meanwhile, has a fleet of over 180 aircraft and serves more than 108 destinations from its hubs in Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena, and Medellín.
