Avianca to Launch Seasonal Nonstop Route Between San Salvador and Chicago
The airline will operate three weekly flights between Chicago and San Salvador starting June 3, 2025, strengthening the connection between El Salvador and the United States.
Avianca has announced the launch of a new seasonal nonstop route between San Salvador and Chicago, set to begin operations on June 3, 2025. This initiative strengthens El Salvador’s connection with the United States during the peak travel season.
The service will operate three times per week using Airbus A320 aircraft, each with a capacity of 180 passengers, providing a total of 1,080 weekly seats between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and El Salvador International Airport.
"We are pleased to enhance connectivity between Chicago and San Salvador, a destination rich in cultural, historical, and natural attractions," said Rolando Damas, Avianca’s Sales Director for North America, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean. "This route will facilitate travel for the Salvadoran community in the U.S. while also creating new opportunities for visitors from Chicago and beyond to explore El Salvador."
Flight Schedule for the New Seasonal Route

This new service adds to Avianca’s existing network, which already includes 13 nonstop routes between the U.S. and El Salvador. Through its hub in San Salvador, passengers can also connect to other Central American destinations, including Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, and Honduras.
Tickets are now available for purchase on avianca.com, the Avianca mobile app, through travel agencies, and via the airline’s customer contact center.
