Avianca to Represent Colombia at Aerospace Maintenance Competition 2025
The airline included an Amateur category for the first time in its internal competition, allowing the participation of aviation maintenance students.
A team of aviation maintenance specialists will represent Avianca and Colombia at the Aerospace Maintenance Competition (AMC) 2025, set to take place in Atlanta, USA. The selection was made through the Avianca Maintenance Masters Competition, an internal contest held at the airline’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Center in Rionegro, Antioquia.
Internal Competition: Selecting the Best of the Best
The internal championship featured two phases:
- Technical elimination rounds
- Practical challenges under real-world conditions and time constraints
After intense competition, Team AMT Masters—comprising Michael Trejos Cardona, Helbert Montes Zuluaga, Juan Pablo Bernal Rodríguez, Orlando Lozano Henao, and Jorge Andrés Campo—secured first place and will represent Avianca in the international event.
The Aerospace Maintenance Competition brings together teams from various aviation sectors, including commercial, general, military, and educational aviation, to test their knowledge and technical skills in aircraft maintenance.
New Opportunities for Emerging Talent
For the 2025 edition of its internal competition, Avianca introduced an Amateur category, allowing aviation maintenance students to participate. This initiative aims to connect with the next generation of technicians and expand career opportunities for those interested in the aviation industry.
“The Aerospace Maintenance Competition is a world-class event where our teams can showcase their technical excellence and innovation. Through Avianca Maintenance Masters, we select the best talent to compete globally, reinforcing our commitment to safety and industry excellence,” said Francisco Lalinde, Avianca’s VP of Engineering and Maintenance.
