Azul Linhas Aéreas strengthened its fleet this week with the addition of two Embraer 195-E2 aircraft. The new planes, named "Voo Azul" (registration PS-ADE) and "Canarinho Azul" (registration PS-ADF), landed this Friday at Confins International Airport (CNF) in Minas Gerais.
Following their arrival, the aircraft will undergo registration and certification processes with Brazil’s aviation authorities before entering commercial service across Azul’s extensive route network. According to reporting by Aeroin, Azul now operates 35 Embraer 195-E2 jets, bringing its total fleet to 223 aircraft.
This acquisition is part of Azul’s investment plan exceeding $600 million, focused primarily on Brazil’s aerospace industry and reinforcing its strategic partnership with Embraer.
Boosting industry and unveiling a new brand identity
The arrival of these new E2s coincides with Azul’s recent brand repositioning under the slogan “O Céu do Brasil é Azul” (“The Sky of Brazil is Blue”), a move aimed at reinforcing its identity as a Brazilian airline. The rebranding also contrasts with GOL’s recent “Colombianization” following its integration into the Abra Group.
Abhi Shah, President of Azul, commented on the new arrivals: “‘Voo Azul’ and ‘Canarinho Azul’ mark another step in our journey toward sustainable growth, enhancing regional aviation and supporting Brazil’s aerospace industry. Flying aircraft made in Brazil on Brazilian routes reaffirms our pride in being a truly national airline. We will continue investing in the connectivity and efficiency of our air network, always focused on delivering the best experience to our customers.”
