Azul begins selling flights from Recife to Madrid and Asunción
Azul will offer new connections from Recife to Madrid and Asunción, operating with aircraft from EuroAtlantic Airways and the Embraer E195-E2, respectively, to meet passenger demand.
Azul began selling tickets on Thursday, March 20, for two new international routes: Recife–Madrid, Spain, and Recife–Asunción, Paraguay.
The flight to Madrid will be a regular service starting in June, marking the airline’s first operation on this route. As for Asunción, the operation will be seasonal in July, replicating last year’s service due to high demand.
According to our partner media Aeroin, the new direct flight between Recife and the Spanish capital aims to strengthen connectivity between Brazil and Europe, offering a new option for travelers from both countries. Additionally, the route reinforces Recife’s position as the airline’s third-largest operations hub, facilitating access to various destinations within Brazil.
The choice of the Pernambuco capital as a departure point is due to its strategic role within Azul's network. Guararapes International Airport currently operates 46 domestic and international routes, establishing itself as a key connection node for the Northeast, North, and South of Brazil. In 2024 alone, more than 29,000 flights departed from Recife, offering a total of 3.8 million seats.

The flights to Madrid will be operated with a Boeing 767-300ER from EuroAtlantic Airways, with a Portuguese crew. The Asunción route, on the other hand, will use an Embraer E195-E2 from Azul itself.
