Azul Linhas Aéreas has announced the launch of flights to El Plumerillo International Airport (MDZ) in Mendoza from Campinas/Viracopos (VCP), becoming the third Brazilian airline to serve the Argentine city.
Mendoza, renowned for its wine industry and proximity to the Andes Mountains, is a top tourist destination, offering vineyards, parks, plazas, museums, and world-class gastronomy.
"We are excited to operate in Mendoza for the first time, a highly sought-after destination for Brazilians during this period, and we see great potential in this opportunity," said Vitor Silva, Azul’s General Manager of Networks, Strategic Planning, and Alliances.
Flight Schedule and Capacity
Azul will operate flights from June 17 to August 22, with three weekly frequencies using Airbus A320neo aircraft, configured for 168 passengers. The airline will offer a total of 10,080 seats across 60 flights during the season.
Flight Schedule:
- Flight AD 8748: VCP 08:05 – 12:00 MDZ / Tuesday, Friday, Sunday
- Flight AD 8749: MDZ 13:00 – 16:15 VCP / Tuesday, Friday, Sunday
Strengthening Mendoza’s Appeal for Brazilian Travelers
Mendoza remains one of the most popular winter destinations for Brazilian tourists. With Azul’s entry into the market, it joins GOL and LATAM, both of which operate year-round flights to Mendoza.
In 2024, the São Paulo–Mendoza route recorded 142,756 passengers, with an 82% occupancy rate.
Expanded Travel Options for Cuyo Region and Beyond
This new route will also benefit travelers from the Cuyo region, providing an additional option to reach Brazil and access international connections, including flights to France and Portugal.
"These flights will also cater to Argentine and international tourists, offering them the possibility to use Mendoza as a starting point for a Latin American itinerary before connecting to Azul’s diverse destinations in Brazil," said Marcelo Freixo, President of Embratur.
