Binter Expands Routes: Valencia to Gran Canaria and Tenerife Starting March 2025
Binter strengthens its ties to Canarian culture and gastronomy with a new route between Valencia and the Canary Islands, starting March 2025. At Fitur, the airline signed an agreement with GMR Canarias to promote local products, reinforcing the Canary Islands as a sustainable and authentic tourist destination
Binter will begin operating a new route between Valencia (VLC) and the airports of Gran Canaria (LPA) and Tenerife (TFN) starting March 30, 2025. The airline will offer double daily frequencies, four days a week, with a total capacity of nearly 84,000 seats. Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The airline showcased its “Canarian way” of flying during the 45th edition of Fitur, with a dedicated stand in the Canary Islands section. The stand engaged tourism professionals and the public, featuring meetings, agreements, and celebrations of Canarian culture, including a traditional 'tenderete' (a local gathering).
At the event, the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the General Coordinator of Binter, Santiago Alfonso Guerra, signed a framework collaboration agreement between the public company Gestión del Medio Rural de Canarias (GMR Canarias) and Binter. This partnership aims to promote and market Canarian agri-food products, strengthening the Canary Islands' reputation as a top-tier gastronomic destination.
The signing ceremony at IFEMA, Madrid, was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, alongside other representatives from GMR Canarias and Binter. This agreement aligns with the Government of the Canary Islands’ “Crecer Juntos” strategy, which integrates local products into the tourism sector, highlighting their connection to the archipelago’s gastronomy.

Under the agreement, GMR Canarias will act as a strategic supplier, ensuring island-origin products are included on Binter flights. This collaboration will promote these products both onboard and in destination markets, fostering the commercialization of unique items from the Canarian primary sector. The initiative also supports the economic development of the archipelago, emphasizing sustainability and enhancing the link between tourism and the islands’ cultural identity.
Another key focus of the agreement is enhancing the tourist experience through innovative initiatives. GMR Canarias and Binter will collaborate on pilot programs that incorporate local products into traveler offerings, while also launching campaigns to highlight their value. These efforts aim to position the Canary Islands as a unique, sustainable, and authentic tourist destination.
During the ceremony, Fernando Clavijo emphasized that “this pioneering agreement represents a firm step toward integrating the primary sector into the archipelago's tourism strategy, ensuring that tourism generates a direct and positive impact on our producers."
Santiago Guerra, General Coordinator of Binter, added: “We are proud that our onboard offerings reflect this philosophy. The first contact national and international travelers have with the Canary Islands is through the service on our flights, featuring products that showcase the best of Canarian gastronomy. We want every Binter traveler to enjoy a unique and high-quality experience filled with the flavors and essence of the islands.”
Finally, Narvay Quintero highlighted the “Crecer Juntos” initiative, noting that it helps promote the work of farmers, livestock producers, and fishers while positioning their high-quality products in the tourism sector and new markets. “We aim to improve awareness, increase demand, and strengthen sales of these unique productions,” he added.
This framework agreement reinforces the commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands and Binter to sustainable development and the preservation of the islands’ natural and cultural heritage. Concrete actions derived from this agreement will focus on generating a positive impact on the archipelago’s economic and social fabric.
