BOC Aviation Acquires Five Boeing 737-8 Aircraft for Long-Term Lease to Arajet
BOC Aviation signs a leasing agreement for five Boeing 737-8 aircraft with Arajet, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2027.
BOC Aviation Limited has announced the acquisition of five Boeing 737-8 aircraft from Boeing, which will be delivered on a long-term lease to Arajet S.A. The aircraft, powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines, are scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2027.
"We are pleased to strengthen our relationship with Arajet through this new transaction, supporting its fleet expansion and route network growth," said Steven Townend, CEO and Managing Director of BOC Aviation. "With these additions, we continue expanding our order book and reinforcing our fleet with next-generation technology."
Victor Pacheco, founder and CEO of Arajet, highlighted the significance of the collaboration with BOC Aviation in consolidating the airline’s fleet and regional presence. "This agreement allows us to advance our goal of connecting Latin America with affordable fares while strengthening our operations with modern and efficient aircraft," he stated.
Arajet's Growth and Fleet Expansion
The Dominican airline has experienced steady growth, expanding both its fleet and route network. Currently, Arajet operates ten Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and plans to incorporate three additional units in 2025, with deliveries scheduled for March, June, and August. Additionally, the airline has announced new routes to Miami and San Juan (Puerto Rico), further strengthening its presence in the U.S. market.

Commitment to Operational Excellence
In terms of operations, Arajet recently promoted its first Dominican pilots to the rank of captain on its Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet, underscoring its commitment to local talent. The airline has also sent one of its aircraft to Brazil for maintenance, ensuring high operational standards.
