Bombardier Global 7500 Achieves Milestone with 100th Speed Record
With this, Bombardier reaches a new performance milestone.
Bombardier has announced that its Global 7500 business jet has reached a significant performance milestone, setting its 100th speed record in its category on Friday, February 28.
The aircraft achieved this latest record by completing a mission from Bombardier’s Authorized Service Center, ACI Jet, in San Luis Obispo, California, to Biggin Hill Airport near London in just nine hours and 17 minutes, with an impressive average speed of nearly 600 mph, according to Aeroin.
Some of the most recent speed records include city pairs such as:
- Tokyo to San Francisco
- London to Riyadh
- Oakland to Tokyo
- Hartford to Dubai
- Tokyo to Toronto
Previous achievements with the Global 7500 include an 8,225-nautical-mile (15,232 km) flight from Sydney to Detroit—the longest-ever recorded flight in business aviation—as well as the industry’s first nonstop mission from London City Airport to Los Angeles.
Setting a New Standard in Ultra-Long-Range Travel
Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President of Aircraft Sales and Defense at Bombardier, stated:
“Bombardier customers require a fast, efficient, and reliable business tool to reach their destinations quickly and seamlessly, and the Global 7500 sets the standard in the ultra-long-range class with its exceptional technological advancements and impressive performance capabilities.
As these remarkable records demonstrate, the aircraft consistently proves it has the speed to complete any mission successfully. And with our Global 8000 set to enter service later this year, we are eager to build on this record-breaking speed momentum and push it to even greater heights across our fleet.”
A Record-Breaking Time Machine
With a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a base range of 7,700 nautical miles (14,260 km), the Global 7500 is described by Bombardier as the ultimate record-setting "time machine."
Its exclusive Smooth Flĕx Wing acts as an airborne shock absorber, designed with a sophisticated system of flaps and slats that generate exceptional lift during takeoff and approach. This maximizes aerodynamic efficiency, enhances performance, increases safety, and ensures the smoothest flight experience in the industry. Additionally, it reduces fuel consumption, lowers emissions, and delivers excellent short-field and high-speed performance—the kind of travel experience its demanding customers expect.
The Future: Global 8000
The attributes of the Global 7500 will be further enhanced with the introduction of the Global 8000. Bombardier’s upcoming flagship jet is expected to lead the industry with a range of 8,000 nautical miles and a top speed of Mach 0.94. It will also feature a cabin altitude of less than 2,900 feet when flying at 41,000 feet.
The Global 8000 is currently in production at Bombardier’s North American manufacturing facilities, and the program is on track for entry into service in 2025.
In preparation for the Global 8000’s debut, current Global 7500 owners will have the opportunity to upgrade their aircraft through Bombardier’s service centers. The upgrade will enhance the jet’s top speed, increase its range, and provide passengers with exceptionally low cabin altitudes for maximum comfort.
