On Sunday, February 2, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) intercepted an aircraft that illegally entered Brazilian airspace from Peru. The operation, conducted in coordination with the Federal Police (PF), resulted in the seizure of approximately 500 kilograms of drugs, including marijuana and hashish.
Aircraft Intercepted by Brazilian Air Defense System
According to Aeroin, the aircraft—an Embraer EMB-810 Seneca with registration PT-RFU—was detected by the Brazilian Aerospace Defense System (SISDABRA) as it crossed the border. In response, the FAB deployed:
- A-29 Super Tucano aircraft
- E-99 surveillance aircraft
- H-60 Black Hawk helicopter
- Satellite platforms for intelligence operations
The interception took place at 10:00 AM (Brasilia time) following the protocols of the Airspace Policing Measures (MPEA). After the aircraft was identified and instructed to change course, authorities issued an order for a mandatory landing.
Forced Landing and Escape of Crew
The aircraft force-landed on a dirt runway approximately 80 kilometers from Manaus (AM), colliding with trees during the maneuver. Upon landing, the occupants set the aircraft on fire and fled before authorities arrived.
Brazilian authorities continue investigating the case, aiming to track down those responsible for the smuggling operation.
