China has successfully launched the PRSC-EO1 satellite for Pakistan from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. This marks Pakistan’s first indigenous electro-optical satellite, expected to benefit key sectors like agriculture, urban planning, and disaster management
China has expanded its alliance with Pakistan into the space domain by successfully launching a satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
The satellite, named PRSC-EO1, was launched at 12:07 pm (Beijing time) aboard a Long March-2D carrier rocket. According to the state news agency Xinhua, as reported by The Indian Express, it successfully entered its planned orbit.
The rocket also carried two other satellites, Tianlu-1 and Lantan-1, marking the 556th flight mission of the Long March series of carrier rockets.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the launch, stating, "It's a moment of pride for the nation, as Pakistan proudly launches its first indigenous electro-optical satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, China," in a message shared on his official X profile.
The satellite is expected to benefit various sectors in Pakistan, including agriculture, environmental monitoring, urban planning, and natural disaster management.
"From predicting crop yields to monitoring urban growth, EO-1 is a big step forward on Pakistan's path to progress," Sharif added, congratulating the scientists and engineers for their dedication and teamwork.
The satellite, entirely designed and developed by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), was launched from northwest China and broadcast live from SUPARCO's central complex in the port city of Karachi, Pakistan.
