In the context of the ICAO Air Services Negotiation that is taking place during these days in Bogota, the government of Colombia and the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement for the opening of a commercial route connecting the two countries.
Jair Fajardo, Director of Civil Aeronautics, informed that the agreement creates the possibility of a Dubai-Miami-Bogota route that could be operated by any of the airlines of the Middle Eastern country; Emirates Airlines, and/or Etihad Airways.
Colombia thus seeks to increase its international connectivity and strengthen its commercial relations with the Arab country.
The route would be operated by Airbus A350 aircraft with a maximum of seven weekly frequencies.
Following this step, the next phase depends on the interest of these airlines in operating the route. It is important to note that their arrival in the country would be a milestone as they are considered to be among the most luxurious airlines in the world.
