Venezuelan airline Conviasa has announced the suspension of its flight operations between Russia and Cuba, with the final service scheduled from Moscow to Caracas via Havana set for April 28. The news was shared by the Association of Russian Tour Operators (ATOR) via its official Telegram channel.
According to Russian media and a statement cited by ATOR, “Conviasa has canceled its flight program to Cuba. Based on the airline’s reservation system, the last flight from Moscow to Caracas via Havana is scheduled for April 28.”
Despite halting flights to Cuba, direct flights to Caracas will continue to operate, ATOR noted. Some flights to Porlamar still appear in the system, but attempts to purchase tickets return the message “no flights available,” as reported by AEROIN, a partner media outlet.
Tour packages that included Conviasa flights were sold by agencies such as Fun&Sun and Coral Travel. Fun&Sun stated that it is offering passengers the option to reschedule their trips to another destination or request a refund.
The agency also said it can maintain hotel reservations in Cuba, allowing travelers to purchase additional airfare separately. Meanwhile, Coral Travel is handling each tourist’s situation on a case-by-case basis, according to ATOR.
Currently, flights between Russia and Cuba are being operated by Rossiya and Nordwind Airlines, based on information provided by the association.
