Denmark has transferred 12 of the 19 F-16 fighter jets it pledged to the Ukrainian Air Force, according to Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
"It is a great honor for me that Denmark has committed to supplying Ukraine with 19 F-16s. Twelve have already been delivered, and the rest will also appear in Ukrainian skies this year," Poulsen stated.
Denmark and the Netherlands Lead the Effort
According to MilitarNYI, Poulsen highlighted the lengthy discussions that preceded the decision to transfer the aircraft and emphasized Denmark’s collaboration with the Netherlands to bring this plan to fruition.
"We need to do even more. I believe Europe must take another step forward. The connection between Ukraine and Europe is extremely important. Europe also needs to invest more in military capabilities," the minister stressed.
Modernized F-16s for Ukraine
The report states that Denmark’s F-16s underwent significant upgrades, including the installation of a more advanced AN/APG-66(V)2 airborne radar.
Meanwhile, Denmark is gradually replacing its F-16 fleet with next-generation F-35A multirole fighter jets.
