Embraer considers setting up a KC-390 assembly line in Poland
The Brazilian manufacturer aims to strengthen its presence in Europe and attract new customers.
The Brazilian company Embraer is considering the possibility of setting up a final assembly line for its KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft in Poland, aiming to strengthen its presence in the European market and attract new customers in the region.
The announcement was made by Francisco Gomes Neto, Embraer's CEO, during a visit to Poland, where he explored collaboration opportunities with the local industry. According to the company, implementing this production line could generate an economic impact of up to $1 billion and create approximately 600 jobs in the country.
European interest in the KC-390
The KC-390 Millennium has attracted interest from several European countries, including the Czech Republic, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Slovakia, which have evaluated the possibility of incorporating the aircraft into their fleets. Currently, Portugal and Hungary are the only operators of the model in the region, having placed firm orders in recent years.

According to Reuters, establishing an assembly line in Poland would also increase the chances of the Polish Air Force selecting the KC-390 as a replacement for its current fleet of C-130 Hercules aircraft. Poland operates five second-hand C-130Es acquired from the United States and expects to receive five additional units in the H version. The need for a more modern and capable aircraft aligns with the country's strategy to strengthen its military capabilities.
Other projects under evaluation
In addition to the potential KC-390 assembly line, Embraer is exploring new investment opportunities in Poland, such as the subassembly of structural parts for its E2 commercial aircraft line, the conversion of E190 aircraft into freighters, and the establishment of a landing gear maintenance center. These initiatives are estimated to represent an investment of more than $2 billion over the next ten years and create more than 4,400 jobs.
The final decision on the KC-390 assembly line will depend on industrial agreements and demand in the European market. However, Embraer's expansion in Poland could become a strategic step in increasing the KC-390's competitiveness against other military transport aircraft in the region.
