Embraer has announced the creation of a dedicated team for leasing and air cargo operations, strengthening its presence in these key market segments. Based in Amsterdam, the new unit will integrate the conversion of E-Jet passenger aircraft into freighters and leasing operations within a unified structure.
Leadership and Strategic Focus
The team will be led by Oliver Gerg, who has been appointed Senior Vice President (SVP) of Global Leasing and Freighter. Gerg brings extensive industry experience and played a crucial role in the E-Freighter launch in 2022. He will report directly to Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation.
"The creation of this team is a key step in our strategy to capitalize on the growing cargo and leasing markets," said Holmes. "Oliver’s experience and leadership, combined with his deep industry knowledge, make him the ideal person to lead this initiative. We are confident that his management will create significant value for our customers and partners."
E190F Certification and Market Expansion
The E190F, Embraer’s dedicated freighter model, has received full certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), allowing it to operate globally. In 2024, it also secured approvals from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

The conversion program began in May 2022, aiming to modernize the air cargo sector by replacing older, less efficient aircraft. Its design aligns with the growth of e-commerce and the increasing demand for fast regional deliveries.
