Etihad Airways will deploy the Airbus A380 on the Abu Dhabi-Toronto route during the summer season, marking the first time the airline operates this aircraft model in Canada. With this change, Toronto will become the second North American destination to receive the airline’s superjumbo, following New York-JFK. Additionally, Etihad will be the second carrier to operate the A380 at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The A380 will replace the Airbus A350-1000 currently serving the route, representing a 31% increase in seating capacity. At present, six out of the airline’s ten A380s are in operation, with another unit expected to be reactivated later this year.
Etihad's superjumbos currently operate on routes to London-Heathrow, New York-JFK, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and Singapore. Notably, this will be the first time the airline offers First Class on its flights to Canada.
Cabin Configuration
Etihad’s A380 has a capacity of 486 passengers, distributed across two decks:
- On the upper deck, The Residence is available, a private suite accommodating two passengers, along with nine First Apartments and 70 Business Studios. Passengers in these cabins will have access to The Lobby lounge and Wi-Fi connectivity onboard.
- On the lower deck, the aircraft features 68 extra-legroom seats, offering four additional inches of space, along with 337 Economy Smart seats, equipped with fixed-wing headrests and large pillows.
