The National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) announced on February 6 that it has granted authorization to Portuguese airline EuroAtlantic Airways – Transportes Aéreos S.A. to operate regular flights to and from Brazil.
As exclusively reported by our partner media outlet AEROIN in December, the airline had already been preparing to launch flights between Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, and one of Brazil’s busiest airports. This move is part of an evaluation process for potential domestic operations in Brazil, as EuroAtlantic Airways has plans to establish a Brazilian-based airline.
Regulatory Approval and Operational Plans
The authorization was granted through Resolution No. 16,300, dated February 3, 2025, and published on Thursday in Brazil’s Official Gazette (DOU). This resolution permits EuroAtlantic Airways to provide international passenger and cargo air transport services to and from Brazil.
The airline already had experience operating in the country through charter flights, including the recent leasing of one of its Boeing 777 aircraft to Azul Linhas Aéreas. With this new approval, EuroAtlantic Airways expands its market presence, gaining the ability to offer regular connections between Brazil and Europe.

Compliance with Anac Regulations
The approval was granted after EuroAtlantic Airways successfully met all regulatory requirements set by Anac, including demonstrating operational capability and compliance with safety standards. The airline will now be able to coordinate routes and flight frequencies directly with airport operators.
Anac’s Commitment to Expanding Brazil’s Air Market
Anac emphasized that the authorization for EuroAtlantic Airways aligns with its commitment to expanding air transport options in Brazil, fostering greater competition and providing more choices for passengers and the logistics sector.
Current Fleet and Future Prospects
According to online flight tracking platforms, EuroAtlantic Airways currently operates a fleet of three aircraft, consisting of:
- One Boeing 767-300ER (registration CS-TSU)
- Two Boeing 777-200ERs (registrations CS-TSW and CS-TSX)
