Finnair celebrated International Men’s Day by operating a flight with an all-male crew. Flight AY1331, departing from Helsinki to London Heathrow, was staffed entirely by ten male crew members: Sampsa, Tommi, Jyrki, Ari, Joonas, Tom, Arttu, Nathaniel, Jarkko, and Matti, according to the airline’s social media post.

The company highlighted the importance of reflecting on the values, character, and responsibilities of being a man and passing these on to future generations. «Currently, only about 10% of our cabin crew are male, but we hope to see that number grow in the future,» Finnair stated in the post, accompanied by a message celebrating this significant day.

International Men’s Day, observed annually on November 19, aims to spotlight the positive contributions of men in society, promote gender equality, and encourage positive male role models.

Choosing an all-male crew for this flight also sheds light on the gender imbalance in traditionally female-dominated roles such as cabin crew. With this initiative, Finnair not only honored its male staff but also sought to inspire more men to join the profession.
