Frontier Airlines Introduces First-Class Seats and Loyalty Program Enhancements for 2025
Frontier Airlines will move forward with a series of changes for 2025, including the introduction of first-class seats and improvements to its loyalty program. These updates, while announced under the slogan of offering passengers more options, are also related to airlines’ quest for greater profitability (especially low-cost carriers) in a U.S. market suffering from overcapacity at low prices after the pandemic.
Starting at the end of 2025, Frontier Airlines will offer first-class seats on its aircraft, located in the first two rows. Additionally, members with Elite Gold status or higher will have access to free upgrades to these seats, which the company claims will improve the accessibility of these benefits for frequent travelers.
The company did not detail whether this new cabin will also include other amenities for free. It also did not specify the implementation schedule for these seats across its fleet, which currently consists of 44 A321neo, 82 A320neo, 20 A321, and 7 A320, but with a massive backlog of 165 A321neo and 27 A320neo aircraft to be delivered in the coming years.
The airline also introduced a new option for free travel for companions, which will be available to Platinum and Diamond Elite members starting in mid-2025. This benefit will allow frequent travelers to bring a companion free of charge on any flight operated by the airline.
«Travelers should expect more from their airline, and in 2025, Frontier will deliver as we continue our transformation into the most rewarding airline in the sky,» said Barry Biffle, CEO of Frontier Airlines.
«We’ve listened to our customers, and they want more: more premium options, like first-class seats, accessible seat upgrades, more free travel for their companions, and the ability to use miles for more than just flight tickets. These changes represent an exciting new chapter in our transformation into The New Frontier,» he added.

Expanded Mile Redemption
Another important update will be the possibility to redeem miles for more services, such as luggage and seat upgrades, which will provide more options for passengers who accumulate miles. This change will be available starting mid-2025 and expands the use of miles for more than just flight tickets.
Loyalty Program
The FRONTIER Miles program allows passengers to earn 10 miles for every dollar spent, with four status levels: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Benefits include waiving change or cancellation fees, priority boarding, and preferred customer service. Additionally, members of higher levels enjoy other benefits, such as free luggage and higher mile multipliers.
Accelerated Access to Elite Levels
The airline launched an offer to facilitate the rise to higher Elite status levels, allowing passengers to obtain Platinum Elite by accumulating 20,000 status points with the FRONTIER Airlines World Mastercard or through flights with the airline until April 30, 2025.
In previous phases, Frontier Airlines introduced improvements such as the elimination of change fees and new options for passengers, like the UpFront Plus seat, which offers more space and a guaranteed empty seat in the middle. Also, new options for free checked luggage were introduced for those booking with Frontier’s co-branded credit card.
With these modifications, Frontier Airlines, part of Indigo Partners (which also participates in JetSMART, Wizz Air, and Volaris), continues to adjust its offering to attract more frequent travelers while still maintaining (or at least trying not to blur) its ultra low-cost profile. And, along the way, to earn more (or lose less).
