GOL Linhas Aéreas boosts Aeroparque operations with record-breaking schedule
GOL Linhas Aéreas is shifting most of its operations from Ezeiza to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, nearly doubling its flights and taking advantage of extended operating hours. The move comes amid a surge in demand for travel to Brazil, driven by a stronger Argentine peso and the expiration of the PAÍS Tax
In a new update to its reservation system, GOL Linhas Aéreas announced a major shift in its operations from Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP), along with an increase in frequencies to several destinations.
The relative strength of the Argentine peso (ARS) against the Brazilian real (R$) has fueled a surge in demand for travel to Brazil. This trend was further reinforced by the expiration of the PAÍS Tax at the end of December, which reduced airline ticket costs in ARS by 35%.
For the summer season, GOL unveiled a record-breaking schedule, connecting Buenos Aires with twelve Brazilian destinations and operating additional routes to Mendoza, Córdoba, and Rosario.
More flights to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery
GOL plans to nearly double its operations at Aeroparque, increasing from 36 to 75 weekly flights. The airline is taking advantage of the extended operating hours at the metropolitan airport, which now allows overnight operations.
The new schedule mirrors the previous timetable for Ezeiza, featuring early morning departures that land in Brazil in time for connection banks, offering greater convenience for business travelers.
Starting in the second quarter of 2024, GOL will transfer its services to Brasília and Belo Horizonte from Ezeiza to Aeroparque, while expanding its flights to Florianópolis, Recife, Salvador, São Paulo, and reallocating 60% of its frequencies to Rio de Janeiro to Aeroparque.
- Belo Horizonte/Confins (CNF): 2 weekly flights, starting April 2.
- Brasília (BSB): 6 weekly flights, starting March 31.
- São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU): increases from 26 to 33 weekly flights in April.
- Florianópolis (FLN): increases from 7 to 10 weekly flights in April.
- Fortaleza (FOR): 1 weekly flight (no changes).
- Natal (NAT): 1 weekly flight (no changes).
- Porto Alegre (POA): 3 weekly flights, starting May 5.
- Recife (REC): increases from 1 to 2 weekly flights in April.
- Rio de Janeiro/Galeão: 14 weekly flights, starting March 31.
- Salvador (SSA): increases from 1 to 3 weekly flights in April.
What remains in Ezeiza?
Despite the reduction in operations, some routes and additional frequencies will remain at Ezeiza, though total frequencies will decrease from 38 to 17 weekly.
- Florianópolis: increases from 4 to 5 weekly flights in April.
- Fortaleza: 1 weekly flight (no changes).
- João Pessoa (JPA): 1 weekly flight (no changes).
- Maceió (MCZ): 1 weekly flight (no changes).
- Porto Seguro (BPS): 1 weekly flight (no changes).
- Rio de Janeiro/Galeão: reduces from 21 to 8 weekly flights.
