Gulf Air Expands in Europe with New Bahrain–London Gatwick Route
Gulf Air will introduce a new route between Bahrain International Airport and London Gatwick from March 30, 2025. The airline will operate three weekly flights using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, further strengthening its connectivity in the UK.
Gulf Air continues its European expansion with the launch of a new connection between Bahrain International Airport (BAH) and London Gatwick Airport (LGW), starting March 30, 2025. This new service will operate three times per week and will complement the airline’s existing flights to London Heathrow (LHR), offering passengers an additional option for travel between Bahrain and the UK.
Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the New Route
The airline will operate this route with its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with 26 Business Class seats and 252 Economy Class seats. Flights will depart Bahrain at 01:45 AM on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, arriving at Gatwick at 06:55 AM. The return flight is scheduled for 11:25 AM, landing in Bahrain at 8:00 PM on the same day, according to the Bahrain News Agency.
Strategic Expansion and Strengthening Bahrain’s Hub
This new service is part of Gulf Air’s strategy to enhance its global connectivity and strengthen its presence in key European markets. London remains a crucial destination for the airline due to the significant Bahraini community in the UK and the strong demand for business and leisure travel between the two countries.
From its hub in Bahrain, Gulf Air offers connections to multiple destinations across the Gulf, Middle East, Asia, and Europe, making this new route a valuable link for UK travelers seeking access to emerging markets in the region.
In recent years, the airline has modernized its fleet with Boeing 787s and Airbus A321neos, improving operational efficiency and passenger experience.
London Gatwick: A Key Hub for Gulf Airlines
London Gatwick has become an attractive destination for international airlines, including major Gulf carriers. Unlike Heathrow, which operates at full capacity and has higher costs, Gatwick offers more slot availability and lower operational expenses, making it a strategic choice for airlines expanding their UK presence.
Gulf Air’s entry into Gatwick follows a trend set by other Gulf carriers, such as Qatar Airways and Emirates, which have added Gatwick to their networks to provide passengers with more options and improve access to various UK regions.
