Historic Decline: Boeing Reports 348 Commercial Aircraft Delivered in 2024
Boeing reported a total of 348 commercial aircraft deliveries in 2024, marking a significant drop compared to 2023. The decline reflects ongoing production issues, a seven-week technician strike, and challenges across the aviation industry. The absence of the iconic 747 program further underscores a historic year for the manufacturer
Boeing published today the delivery figures for new aircraft during the fourth quarter of 2024 and the total for the entire year.
Boeing has faced significant production challenges, some unique to the company and others affecting the entire industry. Adding to this, a seven-week strike by technicians in the Seattle area further impacted operations. As a result, the U.S. manufacturer delivered 348 commercial aircraft in 2024, a decline of 180 aircraft compared to the previous year.
The breakdown by program is:
- 737: 265 aircraft delivered in 2024, vs. 396 in 2023.
- 767: 18 aircraft delivered in 2024 vs. 32 in 2023.
- 777: 14 aircraft delivered vs. 26 in 2023.
- 787: 51 aircraft delivered vs. 73 in 2023.
This report marks a historical milestone: the 747 program is absent for the first time in over 50 years, as the last aircraft was delivered in January 2023 during an event in Everett, which Aviacionline attended.
In the Defense, Space & Security division, the decline was also significant, with 112 deliveries in 2024 compared to 162 the previous year:
- AH-64 Apache (new): 16 delivered in 2024 vs. 20 in 2023.
- AH-64 Apache (remanufactured): 34 in 2024 vs. 57 in 2023.
- CH-47 Chinook (new): 4 in 2024 vs. 11 in 2023.
- CH-47 Chinook (upgraded): 9 in 2024, the same as in 2023.
- F-15: 14 in 2024 vs. 9 in 2023.
- F/A-18: 11 in 2024 vs. 22 in 2023.
- KC-46 Tanker: 10 in 2024 vs. 13 in 2023.
- MH-139: 6 in 2024 vs. 2 in 2023.

- T-7A: 2 in 2024 vs. 3 in 2023.

Despite these challenges, Boeing continues its efforts to stabilize production and meet delivery commitments across its commercial and defense sectors.
