Iberia is ramping up its flight schedule between Madrid-Barajas (MAD) and Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) from Thursday, April 24 through Sunday, April 27, in response to a surge in passenger demand on the route.
Over the four-day period, the airline will offer a total of 10,352 seats on round-trip flights between the two capitals. On Thursday and Friday, Iberia has scheduled six daily departures from Madrid, with flights taking off between 8:45 a.m. and 9:50 p.m., giving travelers a wide range of options.
The increase in capacity is being achieved by operating larger aircraft on several scheduled services. Specifically, ten flights initially assigned to Airbus A320s will now be operated with Airbus A321s, which can accommodate 200 passengers.
In addition, four more flights—two in each direction—will be served by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, each offering 288 seats, replacing smaller jets. This adjustment allows Iberia to better handle the increased flow of travelers between Spain and Italy during what is expected to be a high-traffic weekend, coinciding with the funeral of Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday.
