Iberia Expands Capacity for Summer 2025, Sets Record with 3.2 Million Seats Between Europe and Latin America
Iberia will increase its capacity for the Summer 2025 season, setting a record 3.2 million seats between Europe and Latin America—a 4% increase compared to the previous year, the airline announced in a statement.
For short- and medium-haul routes, the airline will offer 16 million seats, maintaining the same level as in 2024 while reactivating seasonal flights to several European cities.
Expansion in Latin America
Iberia will boost capacity on several key routes to Latin America:
- Buenos Aires: The airline will operate three daily flights, reaching 21 weekly frequencies.
- São Paulo: Three additional frequencies will be added, allowing for two daily flights (14 per week).
- Lima: One extra frequency will bring service to two daily flights starting in May.
- Mexico City & Bogotá: Both will maintain three daily flights.
- Montevideo & Quito: Each will continue with one daily flight.
- Santiago de Chile: Will increase from 10 to 11 weekly flights starting in June.
- Rio de Janeiro: Will maintain five weekly frequencies.
- Caracas: Will alternate between three and five weekly flights, depending on the month.
- Guayaquil: Service will remain at three weekly flights.
Central America & the Caribbean
Iberia will operate daily flights to Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
- Panama will have up to four weekly flights.
- Havana will continue with three weekly flights.
United States & the A321XLR
Iberia will operate 140 weekly flights between the U.S. and Spain, a 14% increase from the previous year, offering 1.1 million seats. The airline maintains direct routes to:
- New York (2 daily)
- Chicago (1 daily)
- Miami (2 daily)
- Dallas (1 daily)
- Los Angeles (1 daily)
- San Francisco (3 weekly)
- Boston (2 daily)
- Washington (1 daily)
Fleet Expansion with A321XLR
- Boston and Washington will see increased service:
- Boston will double its daily flights from 1 to 2 starting in June.
- Washington will increase from 4 to 7 weekly flights.
- These routes will be operated by the new A321XLR aircraft.
Asia Routes
Iberia will maintain its three weekly flights to Tokyo, offering 63,000 seats from April to October.
The airline will also continue its daily flight to Doha, with two additional frequencies in codeshare with Qatar Airways.
Increased Frequencies in Europe
France & Italy
- Paris: Up to 11 daily flights.
- Rome: 6–7 daily flights, partly due to the Jubilee Year 2025.
- Brussels & Vienna: Two additional weekly frequencies, bringing the total to four daily flights.
Portugal
- Up to 36 weekly flights to Lisbon.
- Up to 28 weekly flights to Porto.
- Up to five weekly flights to Funchal and Faro.
Seasonal Flight Reactivations
Iberia is reactivating its seasonal flights to:
- Ponta Delgada (Azores): Three weekly flights from June 7.
- Tirana (Albania): Three weekly flights from June 7.
- Ljubljana (Slovenia): Two weekly flights from July 27.
Greek Islands
- Santorini & Mykonos: 5–6 weekly flights.
- Corfu: Up to 7 weekly flights in August.
- Athens: 30 weekly flights, three more than in 2024.
Croatia
- Dubrovnik: 17 weekly flights, two more than in 2024.
- Zagreb & Split: 9 weekly flights.
Italy
Iberia will resume service to Catania, Olbia, Cagliari, and Palermo, maintaining the same offer as in 2024.
