Iberojet resumes flights between Madrid and Mauritius
Iberojet resumed its direct flight service to Mauritius on June 17th. The airline has been operating flights to the Indian Ocean island since 2016, also offering connections from Lisbon and Barcelona.
The flights to Mauritius are offered by the tour operator Travelplan and will be operated by Iberojet using Airbus A350-900 aircraft with a capacity of 432 passengers in a single class. The route will feature a weekly flight on Thursdays and will be active from June 17th to September 23rd, 2024.
The first flight of the 2024 summer season was welcomed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) with the traditional water arch by the Mauritius fire department.
Upon arrival, the passengers and crew of the first flight of the season were greeted with a show of sega, traditional music, and dance. The celebration included members of the Mauritius tourism authority and national media.
On June 27th, the triangular route between Lisbon and Barcelona to Mauritius is set to be inaugurated. This route will be operated with an Airbus A330-300 with a capacity of 388 passengers in a single class, and it will run until September 12th, 2024.
Travelplan is the exclusive provider of tourist flights from Spain to the Indian Ocean. While most flights are directed to North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt), the company will expand its reach to the southern continent. World2Fly will also add routes to the coasts of Tanzania with Zanzibar (ZNZ).
