Indra Group Ensures Strategic Plan Continuity With New Chairman Appointment
Indra Group’s Board of Directors appointed Ángel Escribano as its new Executive Chairman following the resignation of Marc Murtra, who assumed a leadership role at Telefónica. The appointment ensures the continuity of the 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, with the support of the company’s main shareholders
The Board of Directors of Indra Group approved the appointment of Ángel Escribano as the new Executive Chairman following an extraordinary session where Marc Murtra, who previously held the position, formally submitted his resignation, according to a statement released by the company.
During the extraordinary meeting, Marc Murtra tendered his resignation as a director and executive chairman of the company, as well as chairman of the Executive Delegated Commission and the Strategy Commission of Indra Group, after being appointed the previous day as director and Executive Chairman of Telefónica, S.A.
The Board of Directors expressed gratitude for Marc Murtra's dedication, highlighting his role in driving and materializing a significant transformation in the group, as well as consolidating a solid business project for the years to come.
Among the resolutions adopted during the meeting were the following:
- Ángel Escribano was appointed as a director through co-optation, with the favorable report from the Nomination and Corporate Governance Committee.
- He was named Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, with the same executive powers in the corporate and institutional sphere previously held by Marc Murtra, in addition to those pertaining to his new role. These powers will be exercised in coordination with the CEO, José Vicente de los Mozos.
- The executive services contract for Ángel Escribano was approved, maintaining the compensation conditions of his predecessor.
The company emphasized that these decisions ensure continuity in executing the 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, with the support of the main shareholders.
Ángel Escribano, founder of Mecanizados Escribano in 1989, was previously the chairman of EM&E Group. Alongside his brother Javier, he led the transformation of a company that transitioned from manufacturing mechanical parts to designing and developing complex defense systems, including remote-controlled weapon stations, electro-optical systems, and guided munition kits.
The new chairman has extensive experience in various operational areas of the company, including CNC machine operation, operations planning, quality management, and commercial operations. He is also a member of the Boards of Directors of TESS DEFENCE and SMS.
