Iran's Army receives 1,000 stealth, long-range AI-powered drones
Iran’s Army receives 1,000 long-range AI-powered drones developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, showcasing a strategic shift in its military doctrine through advanced technology and stealth capabilities.
The Iranian Army has strengthened its strategic capabilities with the incorporation of 1,000 long-range attack drones equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
According to the state news agency IRNA, Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh highlighted during the handover ceremony the collaboration between Iran's defense industry and the Army, which facilitated the development of these advanced unmanned aerial systems. “The drones delivered today enhance the Army’s ability to dominate the skies when needed and to deliver decisive strikes against adversaries,” the minister stated.
Meanwhile, Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi emphasized the Iranian Armed Forces' readiness, stating, “The deliveries, demonstrations, and exercises we conduct across the country and in international waters showcase our capability and preparedness.”
Jointly developed by the Army and the Ministry of Defense, the drones feature a range exceeding 2,000 kilometers and are equipped with stealth technology, enabling them to evade defense systems. Their destructive capacity and extended autonomy make them pivotal for executing complex, long-range military operations.
This large-scale drone delivery significantly enhances the operational readiness of the Iranian Army and underscores the nation’s strategy of investing in advanced yet cost-effective technologies. The incorporation of AI and stealth capabilities reflects an evolution in military doctrine, influenced by the performance of Shahed 136 drones (produced under license in Russia as Geran-2) in Ukraine and the limited success of ballistic missile strikes on Israeli installations.
