JetBlue Airways is expanding its transatlantic offerings with the start of a new nonstop flight between Boston and Amsterdam. This route is the only service on narrowbody aircraft between the Massachusetts capital and the Netherlands.

Flight B6 031 was operated on an Airbus A321LR registered as N4058J. The aircraft took off from Logan International Airport (BOS) at 21:27 local time for Schiphol Airport (AMS). This new service complements the daily flights between New York and Amsterdam, which the airline launched in August of this year.

JetBlue’s new service elevates operation to two European airports from Boston; the airline currently operates daily flights to Heathrow and Gatwick and is scheduled to fly to Paris-Charles de Gaulle in the summer of 2024. In addition, from New York (JFK), the company operates from four airports in Europe.

«Destination Boston’s partners are delighted with the launch of this direct service from Amsterdam. The Netherlands is a very important foreign source market for us, sending more than 30,000 visitors to our region annually and these visitors inject more than $35 million into our regional economy,» said Martha Sheridan, President and CEO of Meet Boston

The route is operated on Airbus A321LR aircraft with a capacity of 138 seats in two classes (24 Mint Suites/114 Economy) and promotional fares are available from $399 in Core and $1,599 in Mint Suites. According to data compiled through Schiphol Airport statistics, 309,805 passengers were moved in 2022 between Amsterdam and Boston, the Massachusetts capital was the Dutch capital’s 10th largest intercontinental market. JetBlue will compete in the segment with the Delta-KLM transatlantic alliance, which operates flights on widebody aircraft.

The A321LR a major competitor in Boston

In recent years, Logan International Airport has seen the arrival of multiple narrowbody services across the Atlantic, as Boston has seen the arrival of new routes and several connections have been extended throughout the year, strengthening the region’s air connectivity.

JetBlue is currently the only U.S. carrier offering narrowbody flights from Logan Airport, furthering its plans to expand into Europe. Other carriers operating transatlantic flights from Boston include: TAP Air Portugal from Lisbon, Aer Lingus from Shannon, Scandinavian Airlines from Copenhagen and Azores Airlines from Lajes and Ponta Delgada.
