JetBlue’s Central America Expansion: New Flights to San Pedro Sula
JetBlue strengthens its East Coast presence with new routes for summer 2025, including its first flights to Halifax, Canada, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The airline also announces transatlantic routes from Boston and expanded connections in Central America and the Caribbean
JetBlue announced the addition of new routes and destinations to its network for the summer of 2025, strengthening its presence on the East Coast of the United States. Among the highlights are the airline's first connections to Halifax, Canada, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
From Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), JetBlue will launch seven new routes. These include Halifax and Traverse City, Michigan. Flights to Norfolk, Virginia; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Islip, New York will also begin in April. Additionally, the airline will introduce transatlantic flights to Madrid, Spain, and Edinburgh, Scotland, consolidating its leadership in Boston, where it will operate 77 nonstop destinations.
In New York, JetBlue will resume and expand routes from John F. Kennedy (JFK) and Newark Liberty (EWR) airports. Destinations will include Washington, D.C., Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles. The airline will also restart flights to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from Newark and launch a new route to Guatemala City from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Opening Markets in Latin America and the Caribbean
With the introduction of service to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, JetBlue expands its presence in Central America. The airline stated that this new route is in response to demand from passengers seeking connections with family in the region.
Starting June 12, JetBlue will operate a daily, year-round flight between New York/JFK and San Pedro Sula.
Additionally, the airline will strengthen its operations in the Caribbean, offering seasonal and connecting flights from the United States.
Currently, JetBlue’s Central American network includes routes to Liberia/Guanacaste (from Boston and New York-JFK), San José, Costa Rica (from Fort Lauderdale, New York-JFK, and Orlando), Belize (from New York-JFK), and Guatemala City (from New York-JFK).
New Destinations: Diversity and Appeal
JetBlue's new destinations offer a wide variety of experiences for travelers. Halifax, Canada, features maritime history and coastal scenery. Traverse City, Michigan, is known for its vineyards and outdoor adventures. San Pedro Sula, Honduras, positions itself as a cultural and economic hub in Central America.
The airline emphasized that this expansion aligns with its JetForward strategy, aimed at strengthening its leisure-focused network on the East Coast while delivering a competitive and efficient travel experience.
