During the announcement of LATAM Airlines Group fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 results, CEO Roberto Alvo highlighted the company’s fleet outlook for 2025. According to him, the group expects to receive 22 new Airbus A320neo family aircraft, which he considers a strategic advantage.
“We have 22 A320neo family aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2025. As of today, we are not concerned about Airbus’ delivery schedule. In fact, I believe this relatively large number of arrivals will be an advantage for LATAM, allowing us to leverage our relative strength moving forward,” Alvo stated.
Additionally, he mentioned the arrival of two Boeing 787 Dreamliners this year, acknowledging the risk of potential delays while emphasizing the company’s close monitoring of Boeing’s production ramp-up.
“We are closely following the increase in 787 production. They are working to recover their production levels, and we are keeping a very close eye on the situation,” he explained, as reported by our partner outlet Aeroin.
Engine Supply Challenges
Regarding internal fleet planning for 2025, Alvo noted that there are no major concerns but pointed to engine supply issues as the main challenge.
“More than the deliveries themselves, what we are closely monitoring is the engine situation. Both Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce have faced supply chain problems. We have had very productive interactions with these suppliers,” the CEO added.
Currently, due to production chain issues, LATAM has three Boeing 787s and seven A320 family aircraft grounded. However, Alvo stated that these numbers remain relatively low as the company continues constructive discussions with manufacturers and suppliers.
