LATAM Airlines Group Closes 2024 with Strong Financial and Operational Performance
LATAM Airlines Group ended 2024 with solid financial results, reporting a net profit of $977 million—nearly double the previous year’s figure.
According to our partner media outlet Aeroin, the airline transported 82 million passengers, the highest number in its history, and expanded its consolidated capacity by 15.1% compared to 2023. This growth aligned with updated projections from October, reaffirming the company’s resilience amid macroeconomic challenges and strong competition.
LATAM’s operating revenue reached $13 billion for the year, a 10.6% increase from 2023. In the fourth quarter, revenue totaled $3.3 billion, driven by a 29.1% rise in its cargo division. Adjusted operating income was $1.6 billion, with an adjusted operating margin of 12.7%—a 1.5 percentage point increase and a record for the company.
Financial Structure and Cash Flow
LATAM closed the year with $3.5 billion in liquidity and a net debt-to-EBITDA ratio of 1.7x. Throughout 2024, it generated over $243 million in free cash flow, despite allocating $207 million for refinancing and $175 million for dividend payments. Adjusted EBITDAR reached $3.1 billion, marking a 22.7% increase compared to the previous year.

Operational Expansion and Customer Service
LATAM offers connectivity to 151 destinations in 27 countries, achieving an 84.3% load factor—up 1.2 percentage points from the previous year. The airline added 16 new aircraft to its fleet, bringing the total to 347.
It remains the only airline group in the region connecting South America with North America, Europe, Oceania, and Africa. Additionally, it strengthened its LATAM Pass loyalty program, which reached 49 million members in 2024.
For the sixth consecutive year, LATAM ranked among the top five most punctual global airlines. Its Net Promoter Score (NPS), a key customer satisfaction indicator, reached 51 points—three points higher than in 2023 and the highest in the company's history.
Customer service also showed improvements. In Chile, complaints decreased by 21.8% compared to 2023, with a total reduction of 70% over the past five years, according to the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) and the National Consumer Service (SERNAC).
In Colombia, complaints filed with the Transport Superintendence dropped by 11%, representing just 0.01% of total passengers transported in 2024. On the SIC Facilita platform, managed by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, complaints decreased by 51%.
Fleet Modernization and Connectivity
LATAM upgraded its aircraft interiors with new seats, entertainment systems, and cabin design improvements. Currently, 100% of its narrow-body fleet and 54% of its wide-body fleet have been modernized.
The airline also expanded free Wi-Fi availability for LATAM Pass members on domestic and regional flights operated by single-aisle aircraft, covering the entire fleet in Brazil and 75% of flights in Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador.
